I am incredibly happy to announce that our research article, “Catch a Sperm! An Integrated Forensic Workflow Combining STK Sperm Tracker™, AmylasePaper and Dual PSA/α-Amylase Lateral Flow Testing,” has officially been published in Genes (MDPI), as part of the Special Issue Molecular Mechanisms and Applications of Forensic Genetics.Being able to contribute to this research as a co-first author makes this milestone especially meaningful to me.

Our study evaluated an integrated forensic workflow combining semen and saliva detection, protein-based identification, and STR DNA profiling across different surfaces.

Our findings demonstrated that semen and saliva could be successfully detected without interference between techniques, even in stains aged up to five days, while preserving DNA for subsequent STR profiling. These results highlight the potential of this workflow to improve biological evidence analysis in forensic investigations.

I am extremely grateful to Dr. Sara C. Zapico for her mentorship, guidance, and support throughout this project, and to all my co-authors for their collaboration and dedication.

Seeing our work published is an incredibly rewarding milestone in my scientific journey, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to research in molecular biology and forensic genetics.

Junto con un gran equipo de expertos forenses de la Gendarmería Nacional dictamos dos talleres abocados al procesamiento del lugar del hecho, donde no sólo se dieron a conocer STK SPRAY y STK LAB, sino que también se les permitió operar directamente los reactivos, recreando una escena criminal.
Una herramienta de vanguardia, validada de primera mano por quienes enfrentan los verdaderos desafíos del trabajo forense.
